About Samantha

Helping you feel informed, nourished and confident as you prepare for pregnancy

Hello, I’m Samantha a Registered Nutritional Therapist with a BSc (Hons) in Biology, mum of two and founder of Samantha Meyer Nutrition

I help women and couples take a proactive approach to their health before trying for a baby.

You may already consider yourself fairly healthy. Perhaps you eat well most of the time, take a multivitamin and know the basics about folic acid. But when you begin thinking seriously about pregnancy, it can suddenly feel as though there is an overwhelming amount to learn.

Which supplements should you take? Are you eating enough of the right nutrients? Can you support your egg health? Should your partner be making changes too? And how are you supposed to separate helpful advice from everything you see online?

My role is to help you make sense of it all.

I provide personalised, evidence-informed nutrition and lifestyle guidance to help you understand what your body needs, decide what is genuinely worth focusing on and prepare for pregnancy without fear, extremes or an expectation of perfection.

Why I believe in preconception care

We prepare carefully for so many important stages of life, yet support for pregnancy often begins only after a positive test.

I believe the period before conception deserves more attention.

Preconception care is an opportunity to look at your nutrition, lifestyle, supplement routine and overall wellbeing before the physical demands of pregnancy begin. It allows you to make thoughtful changes gradually, rather than feeling that everything needs to change overnight.

My work is not about promising a particular pregnancy outcome or convincing you that you need a flawless diet.

It is about helping you build strong nutritional foundations, support your egg health and overall wellbeing, and enter the next stage feeling more prepared and confident.

Preconception health is also not only a woman’s responsibility. Egg and sperm health both matter, and I welcome the opportunity to work with couples who want to prepare together.

How my interest in nutrition began

My interest in health has always been grounded in curiosity.

I studied Biology at university because I wanted to understand how the body works. But it was my own experience with adult acne, irregular periods and painful menstrual cycles in my twenties that made nutrition feel personal.

I began looking more closely at the relationship between food, lifestyle, stress and our wider health. The more I learned, the more fascinated I became by how connected the different systems of the body are and how individual our nutritional needs can be.

That experience led me to retrain in Nutritional Therapy and complete a Diploma in Naturopathic Nutrition at the College of Naturopathic Medicine.

Since becoming a mother, my interest in women’s health has developed into a particular passion for preconception care. I understand both the desire to give your future baby a healthy start and the pressure women can place on themselves to do everything “right.”

I want to offer a calmer alternative: informed preparation, compassionate support and realistic changes that fit into everyday life.

My approach

Evidence-informed, but always human

Nutrition should be guided by good-quality evidence, but it also has to account for the person sitting in front of me.

Your health history, current diet, lifestyle, symptoms, preferences, budget, culture and available time all matter. A recommendation is only useful when it is both appropriate for you and realistic enough to put into practice.

I will never hand you a perfect-looking plan that bears no resemblance to your actual life.

Instead, we will identify your most important priorities and turn them into manageable steps. That might include improving the balance and variety of your meals, reviewing your supplements, supporting nutrient levels, improving sleep or stress habits, or helping both partners prepare together.

There is no judgement about where you are starting from. You do not need a spotless lifestyle, an expensive supplement cupboard or a fridge filled entirely with organic vegetables.

You need clear information, an achievable plan and someone who can help you stay focused on what matters.

Professional qualifications

I hold a BSc with Honours in Biology and a Diploma in Naturopathic Nutrition from the College of Naturopathic Medicine.

I am a Registered Nutritional Therapist and a member of BANT and the CNHC. I regularly undertake continuing professional development so that my guidance reflects current nutrition research and responsible clinical practice.

I am also committed to working within my professional scope.

My current focus is proactive preconception care for women and couples who want to optimise their nutrition, lifestyle and general health before pregnancy.

A little more about me

I live in St Albans with my husband, our two children and our dog, Astro.

Outside of nutrition, I enjoy cooking, gardening and keeping active through weight training and walking. Like most parents, I am also familiar with busy mornings, broken nights, unfinished cups of coffee and the challenge of making healthy choices when life is full.

That is why my approach is practical rather than perfect.

I want the changes we make together to support your life, not take it over.

Ready to prepare for pregnancy?

You do not have to wait until you begin trying for a baby to start looking after your preconception health.

Whether pregnancy is part of your plans for the next few months or a little further into the future, I can help you understand where you are now and what steps may be most valuable for you.

My services are designed for proactive pregnancy preparation rather than specialist support for diagnosed infertility or assisted conception. Where more specialist support is needed, I will always be open about the limits of my practice and recommend an appropriately experienced practitioner.
